Valorant is one of my favorite video games so I found a dataset and I wanted to make some simple graphs

Check out the following Tableau slides below

The following are simple graphs that shows 500 best Valorant Pro players ranking from 1-500 (1 being the best to 500 being the worst). I specifically highlighted TenZ (Tyson) because he’s my favorite Valorant Pro player. Tyson is arguably the best player in the Esports Valorant league. He was entering into his prime of his gaming career as he has dominated every competition he went against in Valorant. 0 represents the player has not achieve Radiant (Highest rank, and skill level in the game), whereas 1 is the player is on a Radiant level.

Observation: Although having a high rank would be a significant factor in one’s earning potential in the Esports league, it doesn’t account for other factors.  There were 2 Non-S Tier Pro players that made more money than a significant proportion of the group. The Valorant Pro player ranked 438 made more money than 431 players, and the other Valorant Pro player ranked 405 made more money than 477 players.

From the data, it’s reasonable to infer that their rank doesn’t tell the full story about their capabilities and going against the best. From their competitive games, they must have had a lot of tough games where it ended in a loss or a tie, inexperienced teammates, and bad implementation of team strategy. The highly ranked players would have more earnings from winning tournaments and sponsorships.

Some limitations to this and data that was not included in the dataset were the players individual win & loss records and their team performance in competition. The data doesn’t explain entirely the criteria for ranking players, but it’s common knowledge in the gaming community that rank shows how skilled a player is, and their consistent effort in maintaining their rank.
